Telugu Cinema Mourns RB Choudary: A Family Film Pioneer's Final Journey
Veteran producer behind Telugu hits like Suswagatham and Raja passes away in Rajasthan accident, leaving behind a legacy of clean entertainers.

The Telugu film industry lost one of its most respected figures yesterday as veteran producer RB Choudary's mortal remains reached Chennai following his tragic death in a road accident in Rajasthan's Bewar district. The 75-year-old producer, who helmed the banner Super Good Films, had carved a unique niche in South Indian cinema with his commitment to family-friendly entertainers.
What followed was a testament to Choudary's stature across the South Indian film fraternity. Tamil superstar Vijay, despite his busy political schedule, immediately rushed to pay his respects, sharing an emotional moment with Choudary's son and actor Jiiva. The sight of Vijay consoling a grief-stricken Jiiva with a warm embrace perfectly captured the deep family bonds that Choudary had fostered throughout his career.
This wasn't just professional courtesy. Choudary had given Vijay crucial career breaks early on with films like 'Poove Unakkaga', and their collaboration continued through hits like 'Love Today', 'Thirupaachi', and 'Jilla'. The producer's relationship with Vijay's family spanned decades, built on genuine affection rather than mere business ties.
For Telugu audiences, Choudary represented a golden era of clean, family-oriented cinema. His production house delivered memorable hits like 'Suswagatham', 'Raja', 'Nuvvu Vasthavani', 'Priyamaina Neeku', and 'Sankranthi': films that parents could confidently take their children to watch. In an industry often chasing mass masala formulas, Choudary consistently proved that wholesome content could be both commercially viable and artistically satisfying.
The producer had recently achieved the milestone of completing 100 films in his career, predominantly in Tamil cinema in recent years. While his Telugu production had slowed down, his influence on the industry's approach to family entertainment remained significant.
As film personalities from across South India, including Mammootty, Vikram, Suriya, Dhanush, and Sivakarthikeyan, gathered at his Chennai residence in Mylapore, it was clear that Choudary's death marks the end of an era. He is survived by wife Mahjabeen and four sons, including actors Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh, who will carry forward his cinematic legacy.
