Rakasa Races Ahead in Early Bookings Against Biker This Good Friday
Horror comedy takes commanding lead with 62K tickets sold versus Biker's 44.6K in first 24 hours

The Good Friday box office clash between two highly anticipated Telugu films has begun with Sharwanand's sports drama Biker and Sangeeth Shobhan's horror comedy Rakasa hitting theatres today. But in the crucial early booking numbers, one film has emerged as the clear frontrunner.
Rakasa, which managed to sell close to 62,000 tickets within the first 24 hours of advance sales going live, has taken a significant lead over Biker's 44,620 tickets during the same period. This 17,000-ticket gap suggests stronger pre-release buzz for the horror comedy among moviegoers.
What makes this clash particularly intriguing is how different these films are. Biker marks India's first motocross-based sports film, starring Sharwanand and directed by Abhilash Reddy Kankara under UV Creations. The actor reportedly lost 23 kgs for the role, showing his commitment to this ambitious project that aims to introduce motocross racing to Telugu audiences.
Meanwhile, Rakasa features Sangeeth Shobhan in the lead and is produced by Niharika Konidela's Pink Elephant Pictures, with debutant director Manasa Sharma. The horror comedy genre has been finding favor with younger audiences lately, which might explain its early booking advantage.
The industry desperately needs these films to succeed. After the Sankranthi films, the industry has not witnessed a hit, and theatre owners are looking to both Biker and Rakasa to revive business. Both teams showed confidence by holding paid premieres on April 2, and the encouraging advance bookings forced exhibitors to increase premiere shows from four to thirty in Hyderabad alone for Biker, with similar increases for Rakasa.
While Rakasa's early lead is encouraging, the real test begins now with word-of-mouth, reviews, and weekend occupancy rates determining the final winner of this Good Friday face-off.
