Ashu Reddy Faces High Court Battle Over Rs 9.35 Crore Fraud Allegations

The legal troubles surrounding actress and Bigg Boss fame Ashu Reddy have taken a significant turn as her petition to quash a fraud case reached the Telangana High Court. The court has adjourned the matter to May 4 after initial arguments from both sides.

The controversy stems from a complaint filed by the father of software engineer VV Dharmendra, who alleged that Ashu Reddy deceived his son under the pretext of marriage and fraudulently obtained Rs 9.35 crores. The Hyderabad CCS police registered an FIR based on this complaint, prompting the actress to approach the High Court seeking relief.

During the hearing, Ashu Reddy's legal team presented a robust defense, arguing that Dharmendra willingly spent money with the intention of convincing her for marriage, and no fraud was involved in the transaction. They maintained that the relationship was genuine and the financial exchanges were consensual.

According to the complaint details, Dharmendra, son of Yenumula Satyanarayana from Hyderabad's Shaikpet, works as a software engineer in London. The alleged relationship began in 2018 when he visited India and met Ashu Reddy. The complainant claims she portrayed herself as someone who studied in America and came to Hyderabad seeking film opportunities.

The accusations include that Ashu Reddy promised marriage and subsequently obtained money for various purposes, including purchasing cars, gold, and flats, which were allegedly registered in her name. The case has created a significant buzz in Telugu film circles, given Ashu Reddy's visibility from her Bigg Boss stint.

The actress is seeking not just the quashing of the FIR but also temporary stay on the investigation and protection from further legal action. The High Court's decision to adjourn suggests the complexity of the case, with the Additional Public Prosecutor requesting more time to prepare the government's response.
